Workspace patterns

ImpanoLab tools are different, but they share a few layout patterns. Once you notice them, each new workspace becomes easier to understand.

Pattern 1: a main work area in the center

The center of the page is usually where the real task happens:

  • Typing Studio uses the center for the typing canvas
  • Code Lab uses it for the block workspace
  • Logic Builder uses it for the flow canvas

When you feel lost, return your attention to the center first.

Pattern 2: a smaller area for controls or support panels

Most tools also keep supporting actions in smaller zones:

  • right-side panels for widgets, templates, or simulation
  • top action bars for run, save, or switching modes
  • compact controls for refresh, length, or preferences

These panels support the main activity. They are not the main activity themselves.

Pattern 3: an obvious first action

Each workspace has one action a new learner should notice quickly:

  • Typing Studio: start typing
  • Code Lab: inspect the workspace or load a template
  • Logic Builder: place blocks and connect a simple flow

If you cannot identify the first action, pause and look for the simplest meaningful button rather than the most powerful one.

Pattern 4: feedback appears near the work

Good progress feedback usually stays close to the workspace:

  • typing metrics after completion
  • execution state in Code Lab
  • trace or outcome in Logic Builder

That helps learners connect action and result without scanning the whole page.
